Nib InternationalBank has entered a landmark five-year partnership with global payment solutions, Mastercard. This strategic collaboration is set to redefine the countryโs payment card system, positioning Ethiopia at the forefront of digital financial services.
Aimed at modernizing the countryโs banking infrastructure, the partnership will introduce a cutting-edge payment system, offering both businesses and consumers a seamless, secure, and efficient way to engage in e-commerce. Henok Kebede, CEO of Nib International Bank, emphasized the significance of this agreement, stating that it will streamline daily business operations and cater to the growing demand for simplified digital payment options.
The collaboration will unfold in two major phases. The first, the integration of MasterCardโs MPGS (Mastercard Payment Gateway Services) system, will enable Ethiopian merchants to offer a robust and secure online payment platform. This system is designed to meet the demands of an expanding digital marketplace, allowing businesses to securely process transactions while fostering growth in the digital economy.
The second part of the agreement, the Customer Business Agreement (CBA), will see MasterCard provide invaluable support through comprehensive consulting, innovative product development, and targeted marketing initiatives. Nib International Bank will complement these efforts by providing the necessary human and material resources to enhance its digital banking infrastructure.
