On a serious and important note, for a realistic and better way forward for Tigrai, it is crucial to both support and critically assess the interim administration led by Getachew K Reda. This ensures the proper implementation of the Pretoria agreement and the restoration of all our constitutional rights and claims.

It is entirely false and misleading to create a false equivalence between Debretsion and Getachew, as they are fundamentally different in the current political context of Tigrai.

Yes, both leaders bear responsibility for the situation we find ourselves in today. However, it is very important to note the very distinctive positions they took overtime: Getachew has demonstrated remorse and a readiness to embrace change, showing a willingness to restructure the political leadership in order to move Tigrai forward.

In contrast, we have seen no indication from Debretsion’s side such important humility rather they chose to remained rigid, refusing to acknowledge the magnitude of the embarrassment we felt, and show no signs of inclination toward inclusion admin and handing power over eventually. Instead, they have remained committed to maintaining the status quo, showing neither remorse nor any intent to make meaningful changes.

This is precisely why we (myself and many of my like-minded friends) sympathize with Getachew’s leadership, not out of blind loyalty, but because of his strong acknowledgment of the fact we are in and his openness to embrace any possible solutions from all Tigrayans, regardless of their political stance.

At the same time, we must critically challenge his administration for its failure to assemble a competent team, its tolerance of unqualified individuals to hold positions, and most importantly its lack of a clear plan with effective monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely progress.

By all measures, attempting to promote a false “both-sides” narrative only worsens our crisis. Let that sink in, and It is time to acknowledge reality, recognize where the path forward lies, and focus on solutions that offer a tangible way out of this situation.
