IGAD Deputy Executive Secretary meets with
President Museveni to Discuss Regional Peace and Development
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday held a high-level meeting with H.E. Mohamed Abdi Ware, the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), at State House Entebbe.
The meeting centered on strengthening regional peace and security, enhancing integration among IGAD member states, and promoting sustainable development in the Horn of Africa.
President Museveni reiterated Uganda’s unwavering support for IGAD’s mission, emphasizing the importance of regional collaboration in addressing shared challenges such as conflict, climate change, and economic development.
“We must continue to work together as a region to achieve stability and prosperity for our people,” President Museveni stated.
H.E. Ware, who was accompanied by IGAD’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Mabuya Mubarak, and the Head of IGAD’s Mission in Uganda, Ms. Joselyn Bigirwa, expressed appreciation for Uganda’s ongoing contributions to IGAD initiatives. He noted that Uganda plays a pivotal role in regional efforts to foster peace and socio-economic progress.
The visit is part of IGAD’s broader diplomatic engagements aimed at bolstering cooperation among member states in line with its regional integration agenda.
