Honoring the Sacrifice: A Tribute to ROAD-W Tigray Veterans Charity and General
Gebregziabher Beyene
Acknowledgment of an Unwavering Commitment to TDF War Heroes
A Noble Cause for the Guardians of Tigray’s Freedom On behalf of Tigrayans Advocacy for Human Rights and Justice International, in collaboration with leading international human rights organizations, we extend our profound gratitude and appreciation to the ROAD-W Tigray Veterans Charity Organization for its unwavering
commitment to supporting the wounded heroes of the Tigray Defense Forces (TDF).
This noble organization has played a pivotal role in providing essential medical care and electric mobility scooters to our war veterans, ensuring that those who fought courageously for the survival of Tigray are not left behind in their time of need.
A General Who Leads by Example: The Inspiring Leadership of General Gebregziabher Beyene (Wadi Anetiru)
A special tribute must be paid to General Gebregziabher Beyene, known with deep respect as Wadi Anetiru, who has not only initiated this noble cause but has also spearheaded efforts to mobilize supporters for the benefit of our wounded war heroes. As the Head and Board Director of ROAD-W, his leadership exemplifies true dedication, compassion, and a sense of duty
towards those who sacrificed their limbs, health, and futures to protect Tigray during the genocidal war.
General Gebregziabher Beyene’s tireless efforts stand as a beacon of hope and responsibility, prioritizing the needs of TDF war veterans above all else. His actions remind us that the defense of Tigray was not just fought on the battlefield—it continues in the fight to restore dignity and honor to those who bore the heaviest burden of war.
A Lesson in Leadership: A Call to the TDF Military Leadership
It is with deep concern that we contrast General Gebregziabher Beyene’s exemplary leadership with the disgraceful neglect and betrayal of wounded veterans by some corporate TDF military generals who, instead of safeguarding the interests of those who once fought under their command, have engaged in corruption, land grabbing, and the exploitation of Tigray’s mineral wealth for personal gain.
The betrayal of our wounded veterans is a moral and national disgrace. These heroes, who once stood at the frontlines, must not be abandoned while a select few indulge in the plundering of Tigray’s resources. The very leaders who commanded them in war must now be the first to ensure they are cared for—not forsaken for personal enrichment.
A Call to Action: The Responsibility of Every Tigrayan We firmly believe that honoring and supporting TDF war heroes is not a choice—it is a sacred duty for every Tigrayan, regardless of political opinion or belief. The post-genocide reality of Tigray demands that we stand together in unity to uplift those who have sacrificed the most.
We call upon:
The Tigray Interim Government to establish a formal, well-funded veteran rehabilitation and
support system.
All Tigrayans in the diaspora to contribute generously to initiatives like ROAD-W Tigray Veterans Charity Organization that directly assist our wounded war heroes.
TDF Military Leadership to follow the example of General Gebregziabher Beyene by prioritizing the well-being of their former comrades rather than engaging in exploitative and corrupt activities.
Religious, community, and civil society leaders to actively advocate for policies and programs that secure the rights and dignity of Tigray’s war veterans.
The Legacy We Choose: Building a Tigray That Honors Its Heroes
Tigray’s future cannot be built on the backs of abandoned war heroes. We must never forget
that our survival today was made possible by the sacrifices of the brave men and women of the TDF. Their struggles should not end in poverty, disability, and neglect while others profit from the hard-won peace.
General Gebregziabher Beyene’s work through ROAD-W teaches us a profound lesson in leadership, humanity, and national duty. His unwavering commitment should inspire all of us to rise above self-interest and stand firmly in support of those who defended Tigray at the most critical moment in history.
As we extend our deepest appreciation to ROAD-W and General Gebregziabher Beyene, we urge all Tigrayans to follow this noble example, contribute to this great cause, and ensure that our wounded veterans receive the dignity, care, and respect they deserve.
