As part of the vibrant Ashenda 2025 celebrations, a landmark symposium titled “Ashenda: Preserving Its Authenticity and Natural Spirit” is currently taking place in Mekelle. The event, hosted by Amnen Marketing in collaboration with the Tigray Culture and Tourism Bureau, has drawn widespread attention notably with the participation of Tigray Interim Government President General Tadesse Werede.

President Tadesse’s presence at the symposium underscores the regional government’s commitment to cultural preservation and community healing after years of conflict. In his remarks, he emphasized the need to uphold Ashenda’s core values of womanhood, unity, and tradition, while fostering a space for cultural revival and youth empowerment.
“This festival belongs to every Tigrayan it’s a living testimony of our identity and resilience,” said President Tadesse. “We must protect its natural and spiritual essence as we rebuild our society.”

The symposium brought together cultural experts, scholars, artists, and youth leaders to discuss how to guard against commercialization while promoting Ashenda as a global symbol of Tigrayan heritage. Panelists explored the challenges of modern influences, the role of women in cultural leadership, and strategies to ensure future generations inherit an undiluted tradition.

The symposium is one of many dynamic events under the Ashenda 2025 umbrella, which continues to attract visitors from around the world.
