Condemnation of Illegal Action to Dismantle Tigray Interim Administration (TIA) and Continued Human Rights Violations in Tigray
We, DTD, strongly condemn the illegal and criminal acts of the rogue generals to align themselves with the TPLF faction led by Debretsion Gebremichael (PhD). Concurrently, there are a series of actions to dismantle TIA and stifle our people’s right to democratic reform.
These criminal acts not only endanger the implementation of the Pretoria agreement but also destabilize the entire Horn of Africa. It is even more tragic to observe such groups associating with the brutal and violent government of Eritrea, which has been singled out repeatedly by International Human Rights Organizations and government agencies, committing genocide and human rights of the Tigray population and their citizens.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of innocent life, serious injury and disappearance of civilians and interim administration officials for expressing their rights to oppose the military’s declaration of its allegiance to a faction of TPLF and its illegal actions to hand over power to the group.
The situation in Tigrai is increasingly grim; the clandestine activities of these groups with Isayas Afewerki of Eritrea forces will make Tigray a battlefield where no one will be spared.
We urgently call upon the International Community to:
To publicly condemn the rogue generals and the splinter TPLF faction undermining TIA.
Impose targeted sanctions against those undermining peace and stability in Tigray.
• Support the TIA and its legitimate efforts to implement democratic reforms and the Pretoria agreement.
Hold accountable those responsible for Human Rights violations and political
destabilizations.
