Ethiopia and U.S. International Development Finance Corporation to Explore Strategic Investment Cooperation

During the 2025 World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings, a high-level Ethiopian delegation led by H.E. Ahmed Shide met with Mr. Dev Jagadesan, Acting CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), to discuss strategic investment cooperation between Ethiopia and the United States.

The meeting focused on Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reforms and recent initiatives to boost private sector investment, particularly through the opening up of the retail and financial sectors to international investors.

Minister Ahmed Shide emphasized the importance of attracting foreign investment to support Ethiopia’s growth and highlighted new opportunities across various sectors.
Mr. Jagadesan outlined DFC’s current investment priorities, including ICT, minerals, infrastructure, and agriculture, and expressed strong interest in exploring related opportunities in Ethiopia.

Minister Ahmed Shide invited DFC to conduct an official visit to Ethiopia to deepen discussions and assess potential projects for DFC financing, including the development of Ethiopia’s planned new international airport and other major infrastructure initiatives.
Both sides agreed to continue expanding dialogue and collaboration, with a formal visit to Ethiopia anticipated in the coming months.
