Provoking the Brave people of Seharti and TPLF’s Grave Mistake !!
Prepared by Bereket Kiros
We vehemently condemned the military action and uncalled attack taken against the innocent civilians by the commander of Army 26 on 12/06/2017, Geez calendar at Addis Alem Wereda Seharti. I want to underscore that no one wants to play with fire and not undermine Seharti’s bravery in the fight against brutal and vicious successive governments and leaders.
They have resisted and continue to pass that tradition of resistance. I know of no people on Earth who work any harder than the people of Seharti, even when it comes to our homegrown TPLF cadre’s intimidation. People of Seharti, Go for it. You are doing the right thing by protecting Seharti’s vital interests, standing up for Seharti’s rights, and blocking the illegitimate intrusion into your life by the TPLF cadres. Otherwise, ordinary citizens will be used and abused by TPLF and their corrupt group, often by their dictatorial local surrogates.
What I heard from the vociferous and frequently severe statements of twisting the facts by the mouthpieces of Dedebit and Stalin of the TPLF powermongers is genuinely concerning and must be condemned.
We Tegaru have an indomitable spirit and commitment to truth, justice, and equality as our foremost foundation. It is ridiculous now to seek legitimacy without having one, which TPLF asks for by manipulating the previously entrenched institutional organs.
This shows its utter contempt and insult to the spirit of the Pretoria Agreement. TPLF’s action to demolish the government and substitute itself as the creator and overseer of the Pretoria agreement, which did not happen as planned, was to manipulate the TIRA.
TPLF’s current leadership no longer has the intellectual capacity or sufficiently strong personalities to become what it was historically.
Many divisions have also weakened it: divisions between hardliners and detractors who have no intention of giving ground to the young generation for an all-inclusive democratic system. Even if political power by some miracle is transferred to those who endlessly insult, demonize, and dehumanize the people of Seharti and TIRA, there will not be much of a democracy in Tigrai any time in the future.
Tigrai is suffering from severe maladministration and a lack of sufficiently talented and skillful people to improve the quality of life of its citizens. Therefore, Tigrai deserves much more attention because TPLF’s current stand represents a complete erosion of the Pretoria Agreement and can lead to a flashpoint of instability and failure of the Interim Administration.
Historical experience shows that tyranny can only be brought down by the people’s will, which rocks the very foundations of the system. The Seharti people are exemplary in fighting a self-centered, dictatorial, and visionless system in the hope of helping every region/ Awraja achieve justice, democracy, and freedom.
There remains a challenge among those who claim to possess unique insight and knowledge about Tigrai. It is the persistent bashing stand taken by the attack dogs like Dedebit media and a self-promoter Stalin, who claimed to be guardians of discredit and failed system spewing their ugly venom towards genuine patriotic people of Seharti Tegaru. As the old saying goes, the more things change, the more they remain the same. I am not surprised to see such a highly charged, ugly tone and demented idea evolve to a petty, low-level standard. Whatever one may think of the problem, until the injustice of ordinary people is recognized, the discussion of unity among Tegaru will remain elusive.
We urgently need a media that avoids parroting unproven accusations and seizing on convenient scapegoats. Instead, genuine media should listen closely to all our communities’ values and follow them by tackling challenging problems.
The stand of media elements and other so called supporters needs to stop tantrums like a child Instead of accusing the victims of the Seharti, Adigrat, and Wukero populace. Dedebit and the likes of Stalin must stop confusing listeners by playing with narrow Awraja syndrome. Let us restore the centuries-old Tegaru tradition of being a people of high moral character.
Those who have viewed Tigrai from a comfortable distance and thrown stones in every direction to create a rift have no love of Tigrai. Their prime aim is only to attract followers and solicit funds to enrich themselves. We have a choice to travel through the long and arduous journey of democracy to benefit ourselves or to rally behind a turncoat, pretentious, and manipulative leaders with no clear vision or road map, submerging Tigrai into chaos.
We Tigrayans and friends alike congratulate the people of Seharti for upholding steadfastly their constitutional rights and standing together despite all hurdles. We are proud and support their peaceful journey against a tyrannical system that robbed their right to choose whomever they want to elect.
Their attempt to undermine what happened with a false narrative has already created even more embarrassment. Let us not be captive by the emotional outburst and rhetoric of TPLF’s leader’s vulgar and unbridled tongue and their cronies. As it said, let the dogs bark, and the caravan moves on.
