Urgent Appeal for Tigrayan IDPs and Refugees Facing Imminent Humanitarian Crisis

As the fifth planting season approaches, Tigrayan Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and refugees continue to endure severe humanitarian challenges, facing the threat of further suffering. Not only are they at risk of spending another rainy season without adequate shelter, but their hopes of returning to their homeland are also diminishing. The Ethiopian government must immediately facilitate the withdrawal of unlawful and violent settlers and prepare the land for planting to alleviate the suffering of millions of Tigrayans.

IDP camps across Tigray are experiencing a rapid deterioration in food supplies, healthcare, hygiene, and other essential services. The persistent reduction in funding for humanitarian organizations, which previously provided crucial aid, raises grave concerns about an impending, even more devastating humanitarian crisis.

Salsay Weyane Tigray urgently calls upon the Ethiopian government to address this looming disaster by restoring occupied territories and ensuring the immediate and safe return of IDPs and refugees. We also implore all relevant stakeholders to exert pressure and give due attention to the worsening conditions faced by these vulnerable Tigrayans.
