Tadesse Worede’s Illegitimate Military Presidency Deepens Political Repression and Land Theft
The Horn of Africa Geopolitical Review, in collaboration with Tigray Herald and verified local investigative sources, has confirmed a troubling rise in state-sanctioned land grabs and political repression across Tigray particularly in Mekelle and the 70 districts of Enderta zone. At the center of this escalating crisis is the unjust arrest of Mr. Goitoom Tadesse, the widely respected local governor of Gergembez village, Shibta sub-district, in Kuha sub-city. Mr.Goitoom, known for his integrity and grassroots leadership, was deceitfully summoned to aso-called “executive meeting,” where he was ambushed, arrested, and removed by TPLF-linkedarmed police acting on behalf of a well-organized criminal land appropriation network. Mr. Goitoom had become a symbol of local resistance, fearlessly opposing the illegal seizure ofcommunal farmlands by politically connected elites. His firm stance in defense of the land andthe rights of ordinary citizens made him a threat to the corrupt warlord establishment.
Holding the Warlord Leadership Accountable
This politically motivated arrest is part of a broader repression campaign orchestrated by theinner circle of General Tadesse Worede, whose military presidency has shielded a TPLF warlordelite complicit in systemic land theft, suppression of local leaders, and authoritarianconsolidation of power. What is unfolding is not isolated misconduct it is a calculated and coordinated efort todisplace vulnerable farming communities, weaken democratic grassroots leadership, andtransfer land ownership into the hands of the regime’s inner circle.
This is not just corruption it is state-enabled plunder, and it constitutes a betrayal of thepeople of Tigray in their most vulnerable hour.
A Call to Action: Unite for Justice in Enderta and Beyond
We call upon all residents of the 70 Enderta districts and surrounding zones to rise in peacefulsolidarity. This is a decisive moment for Tigray’s future a time to reject the authoritarianism ofTPLF’s failed warlord class and stand up for justice, truth, and sovereignty.
