Another fresh round of Blockade: A Plea from Tigray

By Shewit Wudase

Hundreds of trucks filled with daily consumption food and essentials are currently being barred from entering Tigray. They’ve been stranded for days in the peripheries of Afar and Amhara; to be precise, in the area around Adaytu and Woldia.

This is not a logistic issue. This is a blockade. And it is a grave human rights violation.

After all that the people of Tigray have endured; war, displacement, hunger, and loss, this blockade is an inhuman slap in the face to dreams of peace. It worsens harm, fuels anger, and undermines the fragile trust built since the Pretoria CoHA was signed.

Precisely, this is an attack on humanity, not a political miscalculation. With each passing hour these trucks are immobilized, there are additional empty stomachs, more fear, more despair.

We call upon the international community, humanitarian organizations, and all who have a conscience to speak out. Silence today is complicity.

This blockade must end. Now.

No argument can be made for such a careless, irresponsible act.
