All courts in the city of Mekelle, Tigray, have temporarly suspended their services due to safety and security concerns

Mekelle፡Telaviv, Nairobi, Pretoria, London, (Tigray Herald)

All courts in the city of Mekelle, Tigray, have temporarly suspended their services due to safety and security concerns raised by judges and prosecuting attorneys.

The decision follows a recent act of violence and disruption at one of the city’s courts hearing, where individuals reportedly linked to one of commanders of Tigray’s security forces allegedly threatened judges.

There have also been persistent reports of interference in the judicial and justice system of the unstable Tigray region by leaders and members of the TPLF, a political party barred from legal operation last week by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia.
