GSTS urges inclusive reconstitution of Tigray Interim Admin; opposes single-party majority after mandate extension

The Global Society of Tigray Scholars and Professionals (GSTS) has called for the Tigray Interim Administration (TIA) to be reconstituted through what it described as an “inclusive and equitable” process. In a statement issued on 06 April, the group said no single party should “have a simple majority to veto decisions” within the TIA, and urged that the administration be “re-established with full governance authority at all levels,” including zones, cities, districts.

GSTS further stressed that the leadership of the interim administration must “reflect the collective interests of the Tigrayan people,” and ensure “the participation of all political parties and social groups.”

The group called for the president of the TIA to be granted “a clear mandate to lead,” with powers to “reorganize government organs as appropriate.” It also emphasized the need for the region’s security apparatus to be placed under “civilian control and oversight,” and to be “restructured into formal security forces under full civilian government control.”
