Urgent Call to Action for the People of Tigray and TDF Leadership
By Teka Nigus
The looming threat of war between Ethiopia and Eritrea is not just a distant possibility—it is a direct and immediate danger to Tigray. If this war erupts, the devastation will not remain in the skies; it will unfold on the ground, and Tigray will once again be the battlefield. The consequences will be catastrophic for our people, our land, and our future.
Yet, at this critical moment, we see division instead of unity. The differences among Tigray’s leaders have now seeped into the TDF, creating fractures where there should be an unbreakable defense. This is not just political dysfunction—it is a direct threat to our survival. While enemies are sharpening their weapons, our forces are distracted by internal disagreements. If war breaks out and Tigray is unprepared, history will never forgive those who failed to act.
TDF and Tigray leadership must immediately come together, set aside political rivalries, and strategize to protect the people. There is no excuse for inaction or division when the survival of Tigray is at stake. The youth of Tigray are watching with anger and frustration—rightfully so—because they see their future being gambled away while those in power fail to take decisive action.
To the Tigray diaspora: we played a crucial role in the survival of our people over the past four years, but after the Pretoria Agreement, we allowed division to weaken us. Now, when we should be more prepared than ever, we are caught in infighting and distractions. Have we learned nothing? Will we wait until another genocide unfolds before we wake up?
We must immediately rebuild our unity, reinforce our collective strength, and demand accountability from our leaders. Our message to them must be clear: Put Tigray first, act now, and protect our people at all costs. There is no greater priority. Every delay, every distraction, and every division brings us one step closer to disaster.
History will judge us all for what we do at this moment. Let us not be remembered as the generation that watched while Tigray burned—let us be the ones who stood together and ensured its survival.
Now is the time to act.
