Critical discussion was held regarding the recent damage and theft of the electrical power line servicing the Ethio-Djibouti Railway. The meeting included the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Dr. Alemu Sime, and the CEO of the Ethio-Djibouti Railway Transport Authority (EDRTA), Eng. Takele Uma, along with key officials from the local community in Awash Sebat, Afar Region.
In the meeting, attended by religious and tribal leaders, security agencies, and other stakeholders, the primary focus was on addressing the challenges facing the railwayโs operation due to these criminal activities.
Minister Dr. Alemu emphasized the importance of collective action among all stakeholders to resolve the ongoing issues and ensure the railway operates at full capacity. โIt is essential that we work together to overcome these challenges and maintain the safety and functionality of the Ethio-Djibouti Railway,โ he said.
CEO Eng. Takele Uma underscored the need for collaboration among all parties, including the federal government, regional authorities, security agencies, and Ethiopian Electric Power, to address the damage and theft impacting the railwayโs operations.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen efforts for resolving the issues and securing the vital infrastructure.
