Ethiopian Airlines announced today, Saturday, January 14, that there is no age restriction on flights to Mekelle, the seat of the regional government of Tigray.
In a statement issued by the airline, it recalled that since the start of the Mekele flight, it has continued to serve passengers traveling from Addis Ababa to Mekele and from Mekele to Addis Ababa.
Stating that the airline is treating travelers who come to the check-in counter after purchasing a ticket, there is no flight restriction imposed on travelers based on age.
The statement stated that Mekele used to fly once a day, but now it has increased to three flights a day and there is wrong information that the number of daily flights has decreased. He added that the airline is ready to increase the number of flights in view of the future flight demand.
Ethiopian Airlines’ statement that there is no age limit for the Mekelle flight came after uinformation was released indicating that travelers from Mekelle to Addis Ababa were not allowed to travel due to their age. At Mekelle Alula Aba Nega Airport, we were separated from the travelers who were over 16 and under 65. There is no explanation from the federal government regarding the matter.
