Gudaf Tsegay nominated for World Athlete of 2023

Tigrayan athlete Gudaf Tsegay is nominated for World Athlete of the Year as World Athletics announced its 11 nominees for Athlete of the Year this afternoon.
“World Athletics is pleased to confirm a list of 11 nominees for Women’s World Athlete of the Year. These athletes were selected by an international panel of athletics experts, comprising representatives from all six continental areas of World Athletics.” The World Athletics said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
Gudaf won women’s 10,000m at Budapest World Athletics Championships in August, 2023. She smashed women’s 5000m world record on September 17 in Oregon, United States.
World Athletics has also announced that this week marks the opening of the voting process for the 2023 World Athletes of the Year ahead of the World Athletics Awards 2023.
