Urgent Call to Action: Tigrayan Diaspora’s Protest in the UK
Dear Tigrayan Community in the UK,
I’m writing to stress the critical importance of today’s protest organized by the Tigrayan Diaspora in the United Kingdom. It’s imperative that all Tigrayans attend and actively participate in this demonstration.
The urgency of this event cannot be emphasized enough, as it addresses severe humanitarian and human rights crises unfolding in Ethiopia’s Tigray region. The demands put forth during the protest reflect the aspirations of the Tigrayan community and echo global calls for justice and accountability.
The protest urges the international community, including influential bodies like the United States, United Nations, European Union, and African Union, to acknowledge and respond to the devastating famine in Tigray. It calls for explicit recognition of the famine and condemns the atrocities committed under the banner of the #Tigraygenocide, rightly termed as “GENOCIDE.”
Additionally, the protest highlights the urgent need for the Ethiopian government to honor its commitments outlined in the Pretoria peace agreement, signed over a year ago. This includes ending hostilities, withdrawing invading forces such as Eritrean troops and Amhara militias from Tigray, and facilitating the safe return of internally displaced persons to their homes.
A key focus is on reclaiming sovereignty over Western Tigray from occupying forces, a crucial step towards stabilizing the Horn of Africa region and countering external interference, particularly from the Eritrean regime.

The protest also underscores the Ethiopian government’s violation of the Pretoria peace agreement through its denial of the famine, perpetuation of invasion, and neglect of Tigrayan citizens. Such actions contradict the agreement and demand immediate redress and accountability.
In summary, the protest by the Tigrayan Diaspora in the UK serves as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to uphold human dignity, justice, and peace. It urges the international community to take action and show solidarity, recognizing that the fate of Tigray is intertwined with the stability and prosperity of the entire Horn of Africa region.
