Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia hold 6th Joint Ministerial Commission meeting

The 6th Ethio-Saudi Joint Ministerial Commission meeting was held in #Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from May 21-22, 2024. According to state media reports, an Ethiopian delegation led by Ethiopian Foreign Minister Taye Atske-Selassie attended the two-day event.

The meeting focused on various aspects of the diplomatic relationship between Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia, with both nations expressing their desire to strengthen cooperation in areas such as politics, security, investment, trade, and tourism. The joint ministerial commission sought to identify new opportunities for collaboration and partnership in areas of mutual interest.

State media reports indicate that, at the conclusion of the meeting, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in several key sectors, including trade, investment, animal resources, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, minerals, peace, and security. This agreement is expected to contribute to the economic growth and stability of both countries.
