THE NEW FACES OF FANO:

In picking the title for this article all I did was paraphrase a line from the Joint Fano statement. The Gojam, Gonder, Shewa, Wello Fano establishments described Eskinder quite succinctly as follwos.
“ባላደራጀው የፋኖ መዋቅር መኃል ተግኝቶ ፎቶ ሲነሳ የፋኖ አደራጅና አዋጊ ካንተ ወዲያ ላሳር የሚል ውዳሴና ዜማ ሲቀርብለት ከሙገሳው ዝናብና ውሽንፍር የተነሳ ማየት በተሳነው ዓይኑ…”
As Today’s joint Fano statement rightly stated, Eskinder has become a threat for the Fano movement. Some of the highlights of the joint Fano statement include:
1. Eskinder’s “ሕዝባዊ ግንባር የሚባል ወታደር አልባ [Fano]”
2. በወታደር አልባው ግንባር ስም በተለያዩ የዓለም ክፍሎች ገንዘብ በማሰባሰብ ለነጻነቱ የወጣን የፈነነ ወታደርና የፋኖ መዋቅር በገንዘብ ለመግዛት የተለያዩ ሙከራዎችን ሲያደርግና ሲከፋፍል ቆይቷል። በዚህ ምክንያት ትግላችንን ወደርዕሰ ከተማው ከመግፋት ይልቅ የተፈጠረብንን አዲስ ክፍተት ለመድፈን ስንል በቁጥጥራችን ሥር የነበሩ የዞንና የወርዳ ከተሞችን በመልቀቅ አፈገፈግን።
3. የአማራ ሕዝብ በይፋ እንደሚያውቀው በአሁኑ ሰዓት በአራቱ ግዛቶች ያሉ የአማራ ፋኖዎች የጋራ አደረጃጀት፣ የጋራ አመራርና የጋራ የፋይናንስ ሥርዓት ያለው አንድ ወጥ ወታደራዊና ፖለቲካዊ አደረጃጀት ለመፍጠር የዕዝ አደረጃጀቶች እየመሰረቱ መሆኑ ይታወቃል። እነዚህ አደራጃጀቶች ወደአንድ የተማከለ የአማራ ፋኖ አደረጃጀት በመምጣት የሕዝባችንን ጥያቄ በአጭር ጊዜ ለመመልስ ታላቅ ሥራን እየሠሩ ይገኛሉ። በመሆኑም ይህ አደረጃጀት ሊፈጥረው የሚችለው የአንድነት ኃይል ቦታ ሊያሳጣኝ ይችላል ብሎ የሰጋው የከሰመው ግንባር መሪ አቶ እስክንድር ነጋ የሚፈጥረውን አማራዊ አታጋይና ታጋይ ድርጅት (የአማራ ፋኖ) በሰው ኃይልና በፋይናንስ ለማዳከም አዲሱን የገንዘብ መሰብሰቢያ ፕሮጀክቱን በ06/07/2016 ዓ/ም ይፋ አድርጓዋል።
Since the onset of the Fano uprising, I have been writing, stating Eskinder and Shaleka Manewsemu are bad news for Fano. On March 22, I posted a brief article on this forum titled “አህያውን ፈርቶ ዳላውን is Not Enough: Go Beyond Outing Shaleka Dawit & Dethrone Eskinder”
This short article is triggered by Eskinder’s yesterday Press Release that was disseminated through his advisor Jeff Manyilutal ዘብሄረ Canada. Paratactically, please do not forget to become a paid subscriber of Jeff ዘብሄረ Canada’s blog to read his analysis on Ethiopia.
First, the press release is a radical departure from Esku’s position that Fano will never negotiate with the government. The question is what triggered his shift? Allow me to breakdown Esku’s and Jeffu’s press release.
Eskinder was one of the ardent opponents of negotiated settlement until now. The recent statement by Ambassador Massinga regarding Fano opened a window for Eskinder to capitalize.
Actually, what he did was very smart. He does not have fire power on the ground. What he did was present himself as a reasonable international partner in the global push to bring a negotiated settlement.
In the immediate short term, this gives him some PR points, but he will not be able to deliver a peaceful settlement in the Amhara tribal land. Only those who have influence over the true Fano fighters can negotiate peace. So the consequence is undermining the Fano struggle without making any difference in finding a peaceful resolution.
The diaspora must reject him and his diaspora cheerleader publicly, loudly, and unequivocally.
