Worldwide Condemnation and Calls for Boycott Against Dashen Beer Company
A Call to Action: Comprehensive Boycott of Dashen Beer Company
In light of mounting evidence and global outcry, it is imperative that the international community takes a firm stand against the egregious actions of Dashen Beer Company. We call for a comprehensive boycott of Dashen Beer Company, urging all Tigrayan consumers and global supporters of human rights to refuse any association with this entity. We demand a series of protests against Dashen Beer Company, whose irresponsible corporate behavior has perpetuated unimaginable suffering.

Irresponsible Corporate Behavior
Dashen Beer Company, the largest brewery plant in Ethiopia’s Amhara region, boasts a production capacity of 2 million hectoliters of beer per annum. Despite its commercial success, the company has been embroiled in severe allegations of supporting and financing genocide and ethnic cleansing in Tigray. Co-owned by Vasari Global, the UK-based asset management firm Duet Group, and the TIRET Group (an Amhara endowment fund controlled by the Amhara Democratic Party, now part of the Prosperity Party), Dashen Beer Company’s profits are marred by blood and suffering.

Profiting from Genocide
Dashen Beer Company has been accused of ‘shamefully profiting from genocide.’ The company’s investments are reportedly channeled into supporting Demeke Zewdu, a warlord and former military officer, who has led atrocities, ethnic cleansing, torture, human trafficking, and kidnapping in Western Tigray. These actions amount to crimes against humanity, with the company’s funds allegedly sponsoring and fueling these genocidal activities.

Violation of Corporate Social Responsibility
Dashen Beer Company has grossly failed its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The company’s involvement goes beyond passive complicity; it is actively engaged in cultural genocide and demographic changes in Western Tigray. Such actions are not only unethical but also violate international law, warranting severe consequences.

International Investigation and Accountability
The British watchdog and human rights organizations must investigate the genocidal crimes associated with Dashen Beer Company. British shareholders should also be compelled to pressure the company to cease its support for the Tigray genocide. Dashen Beer Company’s actions violate international corporate laws, and the company must be held accountable.

Corporate Complicity in Human Rights Abuses
In the global economy, multinational corporations like Dashen Beer Company often find themselves complicit in human rights abuses. These corporations must be held to account, and there is a dire need for international mechanisms to prosecute such entities. While individual criminal liability and CSR norms have proven inadequate, international criminal prosecution can stigmatize and deter corporate complicity in atrocities.

Accusations of Distributing Contaminated Beer
Adding to its criminal record, Dashen Beer Company has been accused of distributing contaminated beer in Tigray, both prior to and during the genocide. This act not only highlights the company’s disregard for human life but also underlines its criminal intent.

Call to Action
We urge everyone to share and forward this document to appropriate international human rights organizations. The gravity of the situation demands a united and global response to hold Dashen Beer Company accountable for its actions.
