Visit of the US Amb to Tigray – recap
Three clear stand that the Amb conveyed:
1) Pretoria’s COHA is a bedrock and tampering with institutions created by it like IRA will not be acceptable by the US. US fought hard to to have COHA in place and would not tolerate any move against it.
2) You may involve with Shaebiya/Eritrea (we know sth is going on) but this will not be welcome by the US.
3) Let political difference be solved peacefuly as per applicable laws of the land. The army and the people should not be dragged. In such behaviour will not be welcome by the USA.
During his meeting with the TPLF faction led by DT, the so-called new CC were trying to make some legal arguments and interpretation of COHA. The Amb reinterated his message is political not legal nor he is there to interprete COHA. He saracasticaly asked where Fetle and Getachew Assefa are.
DT was telling the Amb that he is the legitimate leader, saved his people from genocide and there is no such leader like him in Africa. While reflecting later, the Amb said he was shocked about his level of arrogance, ignorance and wrong self perception. He was suprised how the leadership of the faction has gone so low and became childish. He clearly saw the difference with cordial discussion with IRA leadership.
