Request for correcting a false and misleading news disseminated by Deutsch Welle (DW) Amharic Program.
It is to be recalled that the DW Amharic programme aired a false and misleading news on 12tMay 2024, which is intended to convey a message that there is a threat within the peopleTigray for the internal problems in the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) may lead “theleadership killing one another”. This threatening allegation cannot be taken as a news for aresponsible public media, like Deutsch Welle. It is not a professional responsibility for animpartial journalist too. Even though there is no such a threat and realitythe ground, the newswas intentionally cooked by some individuals, specifically responsible for that matter within thebroadcaster, to create a terror and uncertainty, and perhaps facilitating or revealing any unknownconspiratorial plan that doesn’t belong to TPLF and its leadership. However, such a misleadingand threatening information is not the first timehear from DW Amharic programme. Somejournalists in DW Amharic program have been consistently showing up their partial stanceduring and after the genocidal war in Tigray that contravenes their professional responsibility.
Coming to the point, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) is kindly requesting your goodoffice to assess the reality on the ground, investigate the report and thereby take correctivemeasures onresponsible persons. Besides, we, as a party, expectofficial apology to be givenfrom the broadcaster for mistakes created in relation to the false and misleading newsdisseminated on 12th May 2024 through DW Amharic programme.
