Mekelle University Commences 29th graduation ceremony at Mekelle Martyrs’ Hall
Mekelle University, based in the war-ravaged Tigray, advances students for 29 rounds since its inauguration.
In his congratulatory message, Academic Vice president of the University Abdelkadir Khedir (PhD) stated the university has been through challenging times since the onset of the deadly Tigray-war and has sustained huge damage as a result.
However, he added ,it managed to be able to realize the dreams of more than 2000 students in undergraduate , graduate and doctoral programs.
The vice President reiterated , despite being able to realize the dreams of the graduating students , the staffs of the University continue to suffer huge socio-economic challenges as the suspension of 17 months salaries continues to date.
Today’s guest of honor and former president of the University ,now heading Cabinate of societal development and transformation in the Tigray IRA Kindeya Gebrehiwet (Prof) also congratulated the graduates while wishing them a bright future .
He also thanked the University’s management adding that his office will keep the ties with important partners to work in collaboration ahead.
It is to be recalled that the University resumed schooling and research activities in August 2022 after years of suspension following the onset of the war in Nov 2020.
