“President Getachew condemns  ”regrettable politicization of grave hunger crisis in Tigray’’ by Ethiopian Communications Affairs Minister 
In response to the Ethiopian Communications Affairs Minister  slamming Tigray IRA for ‘’politicization of crisis ‘’ in Tigray President Getachew wrote on twitter this afternoon that the minister’s remark is  ‘’ regrettable politicization of grave hunger crisis in Tigray ‘’.

On Friday the Tigray IRA issued a statement that calls the Ethiopian Federal Government and International actors for a swift intervention to tackle the humanitarian crisis and promptly address the looming danger of starvation and death in the region.

But, yesterday, the ministry of Ethiopian Communication Affairs Ministry declined the claim and slammed the Tigray IRA for ‘’politicizing the hunger ‘’.

President Getachew however said “there is nothing political about calling for urgent intervention to save millions of Tigrayans on the verge of perishing due to hunger that has been repeatedly  reported by aid agencies and international media.

He also criticized the minister’s baseless accusation of the IRA for ‘’ misappropriated funds’’ stating that this does nothing to address the situation on the ground.

The president rather underscored there is ‘’indeed a complex humanitarian calamity unfolding in Tigray at the moment.’’

Getachew called the Ethiopian Prime Minister to ‘’once again instruct his government to fulfill its obligations to its own citizens and help avert a looming catastrophe ‘’.

He also reiterated for concerted efforts by all concerned parties to end the suffering of the Tigrayans.
In its statement on Friday, the IRA had underlined that the consequences of the ongoing starvation would be deadly in the absence of concerted effort to address the famine as the administration cannot solely avert the crisis due to limited resources.
