Canada announced $14 million to support “demobilization and reintegration of ex-combatants across Ethiopia”

Canada’s visiting Minister of International Development, Ahmed Hussen, announced $14 million to bel with the demobilization and reintegration of ex-combatants across Ethiopia today.

While visiting a shelter for Tigrayan ex-combatants the Minister highlighted the “distinct challenges they face in rebuilding their lives and communities in post-conflict, according to the Canadian embassy in Addis Abeba.

Earlier today, the minister met with Getachew Reda, president of Tigray’s interim government in Mekelle where he stated Canada’s support for the full implementation of the Pretoria Cessation of Hostilities Agreement. “Together we can foster peace and security for a brighter future in Ethiopia.”
