President Getachew Reda fired four Top TPLF Officials.
Prez Getachew’s decision to fire key personnel from his administration has created some euphoria & hope. Some people, however, naively expect him to fire all ranks & file. If I were him, I’d go after the rogues or the ones that are loyal to TPLF bureau, a bureau who’s tirelessly engaged in sabotaging the IRA. As a matter of fact, Getcho may need to keep some of them to execute his directives at woreda level.
Others push the envelope & persuade him to fire all his cabinet & create transitional government. Little did they know that federal goverment is a stakeholder (if not the biggest) in IRA.
Getcho should use Abiy’s busines model to reform or consolidate his power – soft coupe.. Abiy didn’t fire the entire EPRDF’s rank & file. So shouldn’t Getcho. I’m not alluding to Abiy’s political model but his approach may yield a better result in Tigray.
Whether progressive Getcho consolidates power, reforms his party, prepares for the next election is upto his party. As president of IRA, however, citizens expect him to level the playing field. The advisory council, with all my reservation in its composition, would be instrumental in creating platform for all parties to get heard.
Bottom line, there’s no joke in the republic of Getcho. Keep waking the talk for change is inevitable.
