Preserving Ethiopia’s Heritage: Celebrating 80 Years of Dedication and Legacy

As the Ethiopian Heritage Authority commemorates its remarkable 80-year journey, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved, as well as to the families of Ethiopian heritage, whose contributions have been integral to its evolution over the decades.

Throughout its history, the Authority, in its various incarnations, has played a pivotal role in researching and conserving Ethiopia’s rich cultural and natural heritage. This journey has been marked by dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to preserving the essence of Ethiopia for future generations.

Heritage holds a profound significance in society building and sustainable development. It serves as a bridge between the past, present, and future, fostering a sense of identity, pride, and belonging among communities. Moreover, heritage preservation is not merely an act of cultural stewardship; it is an investment in sustainable development, as it contributes to tourism, economic growth, and social cohesion.

As I reflect on the privilege of serving Ethiopia, I am humbled to walk in the footsteps of visionary minds such as the legendary Kebede Mikael and Tekletsadik Mekuria. Their pioneering work has laid the foundation for our efforts today, inspiring us to continue pushing boundaries and safeguarding Ethiopia’s heritage with diligence and reverence.

May our collective endeavors serve as beacons of inspiration to successive generations, guiding them in their quest to preserve, celebrate, and build upon Ethiopia’s cultural and natural legacy. I extend my deepest gratitude to our dedicated teams, as well as our local and international partners, whose collaboration and support have been instrumental in our shared mission.

Here’s to celebrating 80 years of heritage preservation, and to the journey ahead filled with continued growth, innovation, and impact.

Cheers🥂
